Punta Cana Stone is the top layer used in the finish Punta Cana. It is an FBK custom product featuring a sandy and subtly gritty texture with sparkling mica flakes that can be applied in a number of ways!
When following the recipe, you first trowel a base layer of Weathered Granite (aka Rough Irregular Texture/RIT) from Golden Paint Works but this could be changed for any number of gritty base textures, you just want the material to have something to stick to here.
Then you would trowel and either leave it smooth or as done on the application shown here you can use a wallpaper or corduroy tool to add extra dimension and texture.
When done as a smooth application you can come back in with a dense sponge when just set and buff up the hidden mica flakes for more sparkle! It is not recommended with the textured application as you may smudge up your lines, though you could come back in the next day when everything is completely dry and using a spray bottle and a scuffing pad bring the mica to the surface -- however this route takes a bit of elbow grease!
