Kitchen Cabinet Class

The Chicago Institute of Fine Finishes well be offering a Kitchen Cabinet Class on July 12-14th.  In these tough economic times, customers are seeking to refinish existing cabinetry rather than completely replacing the cabinets that they have.  Barb Runyard will teach the class, and will use products from the ML Campbell line and utilize both the spray booth and HVLP guns.  The cost of the class will be $895.00, and will include the materials to complete 10 samples.

Elise Cross, a Faux By Kathy customer, recently sent Kathy an email about her experiences using ML Campbell products on a cabinet refinishing project that she completed.  The pictures accompanying this article are of her finished product.  She says of the ML Campbell topcoat, “My painter sprayed the ML Campbell topcoat on.  It dries very fast; he was able to complete 2 coats in just under 3 hours.  He loves it and said that he will never use oil sealer again.”  She then goes on to discuss how the finish she applied using the ML Campbell held up saying “Unfortunately the carpenter couldn’t make the time to install the new sink until after I finished the painting, but the ML held up great!  With all the banging and scraping there were 2 little spots, so I lightly sanded with 600 grit, and with a small artist brush blended in the finish.”

Take our Kitchen Cabinet Class to see how wonderful ML Campbell is to work with, and add a new skill and some new samples to your portfolio.  You won’t regret it!

New Custom Tinting Machine

decorative painting custom tinting Modern Master machine for faux finishingThe Chicago Institute of Fine Finishes is happy to announce the arrival of its new custom tinting machine.  We are now able to meet all of your acrylic tinting needs with the help of our tinting expert, Margaret.  Bring us any color and we will match it for only $15 plus the cost of the product and tint.  After the first time we match that color, there will be no additional fee to reproduce it in the future.

We are also able to match any of our competitor’s colors for no additional fee.  For example, we are able to tint our Metallic Texture product to match any of Lusterstone’s colors for no additional charge.  Another benefit that we are happy to be able to offer our customers is our own exclusive palette of colors, which is being added to daily.  Our Custom Colors by FBK are available for purchase from our store.  You can also order Metallic Paint and Metallic Plaster color cards of our Custom Colors by FBK at no cost.

New Foil Sample Kit

After the success that our current Foil Sample kit has had, we are happy to announce that we have a new Foil Sample kit in the works.  The new kit will still include 22 different pieces of foil ranging in size between 12 x 12 and 18 x 12.  You can use the variety of foils to work up sample boards to show your clients.  This affords you the opportunity to work with a small amount on the samples, instead of investing in a whole roll before you have a job to use it for.

The new kit will be a great value.  If you thought the previous kit was good deal, this one will be even better.  The new Foil kit will include new colors and patterns hand picked by Kathy Carroll.  Check back to see what our new kit has to offer you!

The Art Trade

the art trade where artist collaborateWe have learned about a new networking tool that is out there to connect you with other artists, and thought that we should share.  This is a new and innovative way to connect with your fellow artists and share in the artistic community.

The Art Trade is a new resource for artists to be able to get their work out there into the public eye and in view of others in the art industry.  This is also an excellent collaborative and networking resource for artists in the Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Miami areas.  On TheArtTrade.com’s welcome page, they describe their purpose by saying “TheArtTrade.com provides a forum that focuses solely on sharing creative talents, inspiring and promoting collaboration, networking and productivity within the arts.”

Within the site itself there are also three different levels at which you can promote your work and collaborate.  The first is to connect with other artists to collaborate about one another’s work or trade art.  The second allows you to share your work with gallery owners and other vendors to promote yourself.  Lastly, you will have the ability to network with patrons of the arts with the goals of spreading new art.

Give it a try and see who and what is out there.  Visit http://www.thearttrade.com to see what they have to offer.

Our Clients Speak

Thanks again Kathy and the team at CIFF!

Here's a few photos showing the use of products from my recent purchase. Oikos Travertino fireplace 'box'; and a rolled Shimmerstone wall in a bathroom.

I love both of these products.  The Shimmerstone is something I've used many times before and I can't say enough about how much I love it!  It's so versatile, bonds to so many surfaces, and always looks great.

The Travertino was a new one for me and I loved it.  It was very easy to apply and not too much elbow grease to achieve an amazing stone look!

I'll use that again for sure!

Thanks for being such a wonderful source and resource.
